Unpenji

About this hike

Unpenji sits high on Unpenzan and is the highest temple on the entire pilgrimage at over 900 meters. It’s often wrapped in mist, creating a dreamlike feel. The hike is steep, about 8 km, and takes 3–4 hours. We recommend this hike for its challenge and breathtaking mountain views.
