Awa Kokubunji, on Yakuouzan in Tokushima, was one of the national provincial temples built by Emperor Shomu in the 8th century. It has deep historical significance and elegant grounds. The hike is around 2 km and takes an hour. We recommend this hike for its rich history and traditional temple layout.
