Mount Marcy, the tallest peak in New York, is the crown jewel of the Adirondack High Peaks. Known as Tahawus by the Mohawk people ("Cloud Splitter"), it offers sweeping panoramic views and a rewarding backcountry experience. The trek to the summit is popular but strenuous, drawing hikers from across the Northeast.
