Beyond Berat. Into the wild heart.
Let the journey change pace: a city day in Berat, time around Osumi, a guesthouse night in Qafë Dardhë and a walk to Sotirë Waterfall. Finish with Gramsh and Holta, rather than hurrying straight back to Tirana.
Vehicle needed · high-clearance 4×4 recommended for mountain sections, or arrange a local driver. The guesthouse advertises regular-car access from Berat; confirm that approach and the separate onward road to Gramsh. This guide is a suggested itinerary, not turn-by-turn navigation.

The journey, chapter by chapter
A relaxed five-day suggestion, with two nights based in Berat, a night around Qafë Dardhë and a night in Gramsh. Extend the village stay rather than squeeze in a summit.
Begin with Berat
Arrive from Tirana, walk up to Berat Castle and leave the rest of the day for the city. Settle in for the night; the countryside can wait until tomorrow.
Spend a day around Osumi
Make Çorovodë and the Osumi Canyon area the focus. Choose a viewpoint visit or a locally arranged canyon outing to suit conditions. This version uses Berat as the base for the night, rather than promising an unchecked mountain shortcut from the canyon.
Tomorr country. A night in Qafë Dardhë.
Drive into the Tomorr foothills and make Qafë Dardhë the overnight stop. A high-clearance 4×4 gives more options on the rougher mountain roads; the host also advertises regular-car access from Berat on the advised approach. Spend the afternoon on a locally recommended walk and return for dinner. A Tomorr summit climb is a separate undertaking, not an automatic stop on the drive.
Walk to Sotirë. Sleep in Gramsh.
Take the waterfall walk from the Dardhë side with local route advice, then return to your base or agreed pickup. Arrange the onward road transfer to Gramsh in advance. Keep the walk and the drive separate: the waterfall pin is not somewhere to take a car.
Holta, then home
From Gramsh, make time for Holta Canyon before continuing to Tirana. Agree on the access point locally and choose the outing around water conditions. Return to your vehicle after the visit; the canyon-area pin is for orientation, not a parking instruction.
before you go
The details that make the trip work
Let water conditions decide the canyon day
Check recent rainfall and local access advice before entering Osumi or Holta. A canyon-area visit does not require a promise of swimming or walking through the water. The waterfall and canyon visits are walking outings, not instructions to drive across water.
Vehicle needed · high-clearance 4×4 recommended
Self-drive or arrange a local driver for the mountain sections. Berat City Tours advertises a 4×4 Dardhë–Sotirë outing with staff-driver options, but that tour returns to Berat. Our Qafë Dardhë overnight and onward Gramsh connection need their own arrangements.
SourceVillage access is different from mountain driving
The guesthouse’s current listing says regular cars can reach the village from Berat. Get the host’s route before setting off. That statement does not verify the onward road to Gramsh or every track in Tomorr National Park.
SourceRoad reports change with time and weather
A visitor report dated 25 August 2025 describes refurbishment and less need for 4×4 at one Qafë Dardhë-area track, with rain still a concern. This is a dated observation about that location—not current confirmation of the entire circuit.
SourceCheck what your rental actually permits
Vehicle capability and permitted use are different. Ask the rental company to approve your intended roads and explain any underbody, tyre or water-damage exclusions. Do not assume an SUV label means off-road driving is allowed. A regular car plus separately arranged local mountain transport is an alternative to discuss, not an included service.
Choose the waterfall approach locally
Berat City Tours documents a Dardhë-side walk to Sotirë and accommodation in Qafë Dardhë. Use local advice for the walking start, return pickup and path condition; the online descriptions do not establish one reliable duration for every approach.
