Give Chiang Rai two nights in the sample plan: one arrival day and one unhurried local day. The Tourism Authority of Thailand lists Wat Rong Khun as a place to research for that day. Do not treat the city pin as the temple entrance, or assume all sights are close enough to walk between.Next comes a separate road-and-border day via Chiang Khong. Confirm the bus or private transfer, Thai exit point, bridge shuttle and Lao entry requirements before leaving.
